23rd Annual Saline Celtic Festival: City of Saline. July 13 & 14. Saline’s celebration of its sister city, Brecon, Wales, features food, beer and clan tents, kids activities, and Celtic music and dance on several stages by visiting and local performers. The festival kicks off July 13 (gates open at 5:30 p.m.) with a Pub Night ($5 admission), featuring the ever-popular “Mr. Pretty Legs” kilt-wearing competition, live music by the Detroit-area Irish band Brother Crowe and the 10-piece Allendale Celtic music band CrossBow, a limerick contest, a fire performance by Ring of Steel, music and dance workshops, and more. www.salineceltic.org

Dexter Community Concert Series: Friday, July 13. Surf Zup is on a mission to bring back the great guitar instrumental hits from the 60’s. The musical genre known by many, is generally referred to as “Surf Music”. The formula is simple but powerful. Guys and Dolls: Dexter Community Players: July 13-15. Local actors perform Frank Loesser’s popular musical based on Damon Runyon’s stories and characters. Set in New York City in the 1930s, the action focuses on 2 contrasting romances, one a long-running liaison between a nightclub singer and a professional gambler and the other an unlikely affair between a high roller and a Salvation Army sister. “West Side Story”: The Encore Musical Theatre Company. Every Thursday – Sunday, June 21 – August 12. Thursday Evenings Depot Town Cruise Nights: Ypsilanti, June 7 – August 31 –  5pm to 8:30pm.
Ypsilanti’s Historic Depot Town is filled with classic cars from the first Thursday evening in June to the last Thursday evening in August. They start gathering before the street is closed at 5 PM and enjoy summer evenings filled with music from the 50’s and 60’s until darkness takes over. Owners and spectators talk about cars, have ice cream cones at Ollie’s Cafe, eat a Mexican dinner at Maize, or feast on a burger and beer at the Sidetrack or Aubree’s. “Willow Run” Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea, 8:00 p.m. Thursday – Saturday, 2:00 p.m. Sunday. During WWII the Willow Run Bomber Plant was the largest factory under one roof in the world. Some 40,000 employees, mostly women, turned out B-24 Bombers at the rate of one every 55 minutes. Willow Run follows the journey of four of those women who migrated from all over America to find new lives at the plant. Jesse Kramer – CD Release Show: Saturday, July 14, 8:00 p.m., Kerrytown Concert House Award winning drummer, composer, educator, and band leader, Jesse Kramer was born and raised in Ann Arbor. He received his first drum lesson when he was only 5 years old, and he went on to study and perform with many master jazz musicians in the area. The Yankee Air Museum has been a great influence in the world of aviation throughoutSoutheast Michigan for decades. Founded in 1981, the Museum quickly grew when it acquired its flyable aircraft, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell Bomber, and C-47 Skytrain, offering the public the chance to fly in some of America’s most iconic aircraft.
